PRGS Organizes-UAW
Pardee RAND Fellows dedicated to bettering and protecting workplace conditions and benefits.
In Summer 2023, our union was certified with 66% of PRGS Fellows' counted votes in favor of unionization. Our union allows us to collectively bargain with RAND for the first time and to secure any agreements on improvements or maintaining current benefits in a legally binding and enforceable contract. Every Fellow will be able to participate in the bargaining process through surveys, town halls, and more. And, every Fellow will have the opportunity to vote on whether or not to ratify any proposed contract before it goes into effect.

Over 100,000 other higher ed employees – including graduate employees, postdocs, research scientists, and adjunct faculty – have also chosen to collectively bargain and join UAW. Together, this movement is leading to rapid improvements in higher education like higher wages, improved healthcare benefits, protections from discrimination, sexual harassment, and abusive conduct, better job security, parental leave and childcare support, and more support for international scholars.
"Unions are based on the idea that one's own well-being is bound up with the fate of others. Collective action depends on trust and a strong sense of shared interest, ideals that underlie democracy."
